We’re live with the first issue of the Origins magazine!  It is a quarterly magazine for parents and soon-to-be parents who are lost in the confusion of contradicting advice and for parents on the hunt for healthier options for food, beauty, and hygiene products.  Hit “Expand” to read the magazine.

A HUGE thank you goes out to Melissa Jean of Melissa Jean Photography for contributing to this issue!

I’m looking for future contributors and stories, so if you read this issue and feel like you have something to share email me.  I’m already working on ideas for the next issue!

If you or someone you know is expecting and is interested in maternity or newborn photography, contact me using the contact form or send me an email.  The first weeks are so important!  For more information on when to have a newborn session, read this blog post.

Oh yeah!  All photos and written content on RTC PhotoWork blog are copyright to RTC PhotoWork.  None of these photos are to be printed or posted anywhere, whether in part or in whole, unless given the express permission of RTC PhotoWork.  Please contact me at t.jcurry@yahoo.com for permission if you would like to repost any images or content.

RTC PhotoWork: Origins Day After Photography FAQ’s

You put on a dash of makeup before visitors come because you expect to have a few photos taken of you.  By the time you are bundling that baby into the car seat a few days later, you realize.  "I don’t think ANYONE took a photo of my baby and me.”  It’s too late; the first time your own parents held your baby has come and gone; your first days snuggling with him have passed.  You’re leaving the hospital, and you don’t even have a photo of your new little family.

I don’t want you to go through those thoughts and feelings.  In case you missed my story and the introduction of Origins Day After Photography, go back to the first post here.  Now, on to the details…

RTC PhotoWork: A New Kind of Day After Photography

Imagine this:  You just had a baby.  Your mother is out of town, about 2,000 miles out of town.  Your father is at work, and everyone else just got out of work right before you were “pushing.”  Oh yeah, one of your brothers and your partner’s sisters live 200+ miles away, and your own sister just a baby 3 days ago.  Those who can visit only have their phones with them.  Those in town will be back over the next couple of days to visit; those with cameras will bring them and take tons of photos when they come back.  Besides, the nurses were so nice when your sister delivered to offer to take photos of you with your new nephew and to encourage you to take photos of him when he was being weighed, measured, and cleaned up.  Surely they will offer to take a photo of you, the new mom with your baby when they see you using your phone to take photos of him around the clock…You put on a dash of makeup before visitors come because you expect to have cameras in your face when visitors come back. Over the coming weeks and months, you check Facebook and ask family for photos they took, and your fear is confirmed.  You have no photos with your baby in the first couple of days of his life.
