Either you just got engaged and don’t know where to start or your mind is running you ragged constantly going over what needs to be done.
Make a checklist! Start with the obvious “big tasks,” then drill them down into the smaller, reasonably achievable tasks.
It’s sounds obvious, but once you get it on paper (or computer) you can relax a little knowing you don’t have to constantly remind yourself of things.
That list of to-do’s daunting? Each day or designated “planning day,” grab a stack of Post-its. Write down 3-5 of the smaller tasks and keep them in front of you. Make them things you can get done in a day: contact this vendor, get quotes on venues, etc. Keep them small enough that you can achieve them and crack away at your list, so that you actually feel like you’ve made progress. Those 3-5 tasks each day don’t seem too bad, now do they? As you get them done, get rid of them (and update your master list). By the end of the day, maybe you’ve just knocked out a major task on your list. Success!
Add to your list if you need to. If something comes up that needs dealing quick attention, start a Post-it (for the next day). (Thanks to Sarah Petty with the Joy of Marketing for the great Post-it idea!)
Knowing is half the battle, and lists help you know you don’t have to have wedding brain as you go through your entire day.
