RTC PhotoWork: Seventh Day of Christmas—Your Christmas Trees

  On the Seventh Day of Christmas, I bring to you…your Christmas trees!  Thanks to those of you who shared photos of your decorations!

  Last, we have Meghan and Greg’s tree along with a few ornaments that are special to them:

 This one is special.  It is an ornament Meghan gave Greg on their first Christmas together 10 years ago!

  As if the 10th Christmas together isn’t special enough, it’s also their new daughter, Vivianna’s first Christmas.  Here is her official first Christmas ornament they got at Disney before she was born!

  Again, thank you for sharing a little piece of your lives with us!  My tree and a few other fun decoration photos will be up tomorrow.  Can you believe we’re a week away from Christmas?!?

RTC PhotoWork: The Name

   RTC PhotoWork, RTC PhotoWorks, RTC Photography, RTC Photo…Which is it?  Where did the name come from?  Why not Tamara Curry Photography?

   For the record, it is RTC PhotoWork (no “s”).  It comes from an old AIM (AOL Instant Messenger for those of you too young to know of it) screen name I had.  If you read “RTC” out loud kind of phonetically, you read “artsy.”  I love art and have a strict definition, so I didn’t dare call myself artistic back in the day.  Instead, being artistically inclined, I defined myself as “artsy.”  Some time later I talked with a friend of how I would love to open an art gallery, and when I searched for a name for that dream, I came back to “RTC.”  Except I liked it read letter by letter.

RTC PhotoWork: When to Schedule Newborn Photos

  Before I get too far into it, I have to laugh as Tristan (of 9 weeks) is curled up napping in a Boppy pillow.  He still prefers to be totally curled up, and if he is sitting on our chests he is in the froggy position (albeit not SO tightly curled as a fresh baby) that looks so absolutely adorable in newborn photos.  I guess he’s just always liked it to be in a little ball, and I can only thank him for that.  (It prevented me from getting huge even though I gained more than the healthy amount of weight during the pregnancy.)  It also made his “newborn” photos which I couldn’t get around to until he was 3 weeks old look more like the newborn photos you see by those who specialize in the wee little ones.

RTC PhotoWork: Taking Maternity Leave

  Today marks the beginning of a new phase for me.  I have officially begun my maternity leave.  We have a few odds and ends to get taken care of around the homestead before the baby’s here.  AAAAAAaaaaahhh!!  Okay, minor freak-out over…for now.  (No, I’m not getting nervous at all!)

  Since we are due anytime between March 3 and 9, I will not be booking or shooting any new sessions to take place between now and May 15.  (This period of no-shooting may last longer, but it does depend on how everything goes.  I don’t know entirely how to plan since this is our first baby.)  Sessions which have already been in the planning stage will go on as planned.  I will be available to design products and prepare photos from previous sessions for printing.  Just make sure to give me a 2 week lead time before regular print orders need to be delivered and at least 5 week lead time on designer press products (unless you are willing to forgo proofing designs before printing; this will shave off a week and a half to 2 weeks).

  As I am going to be shooting our son’s newborn photos (and probably my sister’s new babe who is on the way as I type), I will have a small window in early March where I will be willing to shoot a few sessions.  I will let everyone know as soon as I know when I will be doing that.  I can’t wait to share those photos with you all!

  Also, in the 3 months I am off I will continue to take consultations for future sessions and weddings.  I will also continue to post Photoshop tutorials, design templates, wedding tips, and session ideas.  Keep an eye out, too, for specials I may have for when I resume sessions!
